On September 9
th
, 2009, Disney Parks announced a new program designed to celebrate the spirit
of volunteer service: the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" promotion. Hoping to inspire families
everywhere, Disney officially kicked off the program on January 1
st
, offering one million people
who perform volunteer service for a participating organization a free one-day admission ticket to
a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.
Disney has partnered with HandsOn Network, the nation's largest volunteer network, to facilitate
sign-ups for eligible volunteer projects. Part of the Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network
has 250 volunteer action centers, and a network of over 70,000 nonprofit, corporate and faith
organizations.
IEDRO recently joined with HandsOn Network and Disney to participate in "Give a Day, Get a
Disney Day." "We're thrilled to be a part of this program," said Pennell Paugh, public relations
manager at IEDRO. "There are so many people out there willing to help. The Disney free pass
program is a wonderful way of saying thank you, and a gift anyone would enjoy!"
